All students must complete the minimum number of classes and time trained before they will be considered eligible for their next grade level. Basic techniques, kata, kumite, bunkai, etiquette and discipline will all be considered for students to pass their testing. Gradings will vary in length depending on the level attempting. Training twice a week is recommended, and one could expect to reach black belt in around 5-6 years. Some may progress faster with more training or previous training considered.
Students entering Yushukan from other styles:
If the previous style trained in is Goju based then a previous ranking will be considered. However, the student will be assessed for a transfer of grade level. If the required level is not the same, then the student may be transferred to a higher or lower level at the Chief Instructors discretion.
If the previous style is not Goju based, then the student may have to start at white belt. One may also choose to start Yushukan at white belt regardless of their previous training.
Yushukan Karate is also a proud member and affiliate of the Gojuryu Seiwakai Karate Do Australia & the All Japan Karate Federation Gojukai Australia.
